Last night we sat beneath the stars at Cool Creek Park watching, "Ratatouille". The free movie started at 9 p.m. so we packed popcorn, our blankets and chairs and met the Prather family at the park. The kids really seemed to enjoy it and did very well considering the time. We were unable to get a photo because the movie had already begun by the time we arrived, but the kids looked so cute in their pj's and sitting in their little chairs.

Classical Mystery Tour at Conner Prairie
Titi Gigi came to visit this week and to attend the Classical Mystery Tour at Conner Prairie with us. We had so much fun listening to music performed by four musicians who look, sound and play like the Beatles. They weren't the only entertainment as we enjoyed watching Nadia dance the night away. Nadia even convinced me to head up to the front of the stage for some dancing. There are some other great pics that Jose captured but I didn't want to post them all, so please visit our photo album to view them.

First Day of School-"Mom's Day Out"
5 A.M. Wake Up Call
Mami has been stressing about this day for a week now and apparently for good reason, it was a very rough three hours for poor Nadia. First, Nadia was awake at 5 a.m. (we think she had another bad dream) so we brought her into our room but she never went back to sleep. When we got to the church, Nadia was pretty excited, but the fear quickly took over as the other children that were dropped off before her began to scream and cry. Nadia soon joined in as one of the teachers took her into the room. Immediately I found myself crying, which I knew would happen. When I returned to pick her up, all my fears had come true. Nadia was so upset that she vomited on her blankey, so it was taken away from her (the true source of comfort-even more than me) and she never truly bounced back the entire 3 hours! Now the stress I was feeling will linger on until my poor baby adjusts...I pray that sooner than later both Nadia and I will find comfort in going to Mom's Day Out.

Happy Birthday!
We spent the day in Kokomo on Sunday celebrating Papaw's 56th birthday. Congratulations!
Saturday afternoon there was a quasi Kokomo High School reunion here. Erica & Andy, Layla & Iris, and the Prather's came by on what turned out to be a very humid afternoon. More time was spent inside than out, but we had a great time. Check out the web album for more pics.

Big Sis, Little Sis
Nadia's imagination takes off! Today, in the above photo, she told me that she was on a boat in the water. I guess watching, "Go, Diego, Go!", has given her some ideas. Just before I took this photo she was pretending that the tile was water and that her duck was swimming in it. A few days ago she undid her glow necklace and it became a fishing rod and then she turned into a golf club when she began swinging it. Too funny...I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
Ever since we saw the monkeys at the State Fair, Nadia has been obsessed! Here she is wrestling/tickling them in her Dora undies and her yellow and pink high heels (the girl loves her high heels.) I know...she's going to hate this photo and us for taking it someday but we couldn't resist.
Mami gets a break and it's Papi's turn! Here Nadia entertains Sonia while Jose chats on the phone.

We have some news to report on Sonia that we haven't shared. Sonia has had a handful of upper body/head tremors within the past month. We're praying it's nothing serious and will be seeing a Neurologist next month to confirm what is going on. She remains a happy baby and is developing well so we're not too worried but are looking into it to be safe.

Moms Club Sprinkler-n-Sundaes & Sweet Potato Sonia
Above are some photos of a Moms Club event that I held at our house today. The children played in the sprinkler and the pool while the moms stood around and enjoyed having adult conversations (mostly about our kids). I provided the ice cream and everyone else brought their favorite topping and we made our own sundaes. I had no idea that children love chocolate ice cream so much! Anyway, the last three photos above are of children in Nadia's playgroup (Brooke, Luke, and then Grace who I think has made the blog before). ******Below is funny photo of Sonia enjoying her sweet potatoes during lunch after the party. So far, she's a big fan of oatmeal cereal mixed with applesauce/bananas, carrots and sweet potatoes.

Movie Day
Yesterday, I took Nadia to see her 1st movie, "Horton Hears a Who," at the cinemas here in Noblesville. The showing was free so I felt like it was a good time to go, no loss if we had to leave early. Sonia came along too and seemed to enjoy the movie just as much as Nadia and I did, although sleep finally got the best of her. Nadia got a little restless towards the end but after munching on a few pretzels, the movie was over and we had made it through. The best thing about going was that Nadia told me that she had to go potty half way through the movie so we got up and once again she pottied using the big toilet at a public restroom! This is the third time she has gone while we've been out (we were grocery shopping and she managed to let me know too).
Roll with it
Sonia has been rolling occasionally since she was around 3 months but a couple of weeks ago she began rolling intentionally and consistently to reach for an object.

Potty Talk
We've been potty training since last Wednesday and things are going well...surprisingly well. Although we've been talking about "the potty" since Nadia could walk (i.e., emptying diapers into the toilet, letting Nadia flush, playing with a potty doll) we officially took the plunge and threw out the diapers and bought Dora undies and Dora pull ups last week. For our busy little girl, stopping to take time to go to the potty didn't sound like fun until it involved receiving an M&M or two. Anyway, by the second day she was letting us know that she had to go (most of the time) by running around with a piece of toilet paper in her hand and saying, "potty, potty". She has even gone to the potty without our help when she didn't need any assistance with getting her undies off. While Nadia learns to listen to her body, Jose and I are learning to watch for her cues and take action quickly. We feel that she's really caught on although we will not be completely accident free for some time. Our proudest moment thus far was when she let us know that it was time to go potty and used the public restroom at the State Fair (of course this was after she wet through her pull up when we arrived at the fair). It's been a crazy week and I'm completely exhausted... but so very proud of our Nadia.
2008 Indianapolis State Fair
Yesterday we visited the State Fair for the second year in a row. We had a nice time hanging out with the girls. One of the first things we came upon when we arrvied was this animal circus act (first photo above) where a poor cat was clinging on for dear life to a dog while it hurdled over gates and ran in circles...how horrible for the cat! The lady in the photo came out dancing to Vogue and we began to wonder if the act was age appropriate. There were monkeys later in the show and we thought we would never get Nadia away from there! Next, we walked a winding path through the Little Hands on the Farm interactive agriculture display where Nadia picked up supplies to the grocery store to buy herself food. Along the way she collected corn to feed the pig that she kissed, an egg from a chicken, a red onion, and then she received a dollar to buy something from the market afterwards. We're not sure why, but this was just as fun for Jose and I and probably our favorite thing we did at the fair. Then we had this great idea...rides! Well, not such a great idea after all. You can't tell from the photo above but Nadia cried the entire time she was so scared. Throughout our visit we also saw a lot of animals, Nadia's favorite without a doubt! We ended the visit with some good old fair food, the funnel cake, and an ice cream cone for Nadia (she made such a mess that you would have thought she wrestled a pigs). There are a few more photos in the web album.

Gorillas in the Mist
We said that we would try to get Sonia's lovely monkey... rather ape sounds and we did, sometimes she'll even make little fists and beat her chest too. The photo below is of Nadia mimicking Jose. She's at the point where she enjoys copying everything that we do. Hopefully, we can set some good examples for her along the way.
